CDRA OFFICES
This project required major renovations and additions to an historical building in District six/Woodstock to accommodate the NGO, Community Development Resource Association. Their core business is to build the capacity of organizations engaged in development and social transformation in Southern Africa. After significant research the offices are custom designed to specifically support and encourage both intimate and spontaneous informal social interactions.

VILLAGE APARTMENTS/ MIXED USE
This project was designed in association with Michael Rudolph and Steven Lennard. It includes underground parking, shops, offices and 66 luxury apartments. The focus of the structures was to generate a pedestrian plaza to provide the opportunity for spontaneous informal social interactions. VILLAGE GATE
This project includes a parking area, shopping precinct, restaurant, bank, dance studio, offices and 6 luxury loft apartments. It forms part of the overall ‘village’ neighbourhood precinct.

HOUSE FOWLER – (Herbertsdale, Eastern Cape)
This country dwelling blends into its natural context like an indigenous rock lizard perched on the edge of a precipitous hillside. The structure was designed to optimise the panoramic mountain views while generating easy inside-outside living spaces.

HOUSE TRAUTMANN- (Hout bay, Cape Town)
This large private dwelling with a helix formed roof ridge was published in an article in the Architecture SA featuring state of the art sustainable buildings in South Africa. SPIER ESTATE DWELLING- (Stellenbosch)
This large private dwelling is built with green awareness as a central guiding design principle. This includes 240 square meters of planted roof garden, clay bricks made on-site and cob wall construction, recycled timber used extensively for all windows, doors, ceilings and floors, lime/sand only floor slabs, location of building relative to earth energy points (chakras), etc

HOUSE VOSS – (Castle Rock, Simonstown)
This private dwelling is built within a nature reserve overlooking the Indian Ocean.
It’s designed to maximize an indoor/outdoor life style in the context of breathtaking sea and distant mountain views. The structure wraps around the steep hillside, echoing the curved contours of the land

TOWERLAND RETREAT – (Herbertsdale, Eastern Cape)

This country workshop/retreat centre is part of the Proteus Initiative. To quote from their web page, www.proteusinititive.org

A meeting place between arid interior and watered coastal region, the land mediates between mountain and plain, wild and cultivated, inner and outer, sacred and profane, with a fierce and gentle insistence. The Towerland Wilderness is a space for encouraging wholeness and gaining insight into living process, for countering distraction and fragmentation, for the renewal of souls and impulses.
